Geological site of Ranzano – 526 mslm
Between the inhabited areas of Cereggio and Taviano, you meet the spectacular rocky outcrop called “Pizzoni”, made up of coarse sandstones (Arenarie di Ranzano), from which a long cordon rises crossing the valley of the Enza river.
Characteristic of these rocks is the extensive presence of rounded shapes known as “mamelons”, due to the different resistance of the rock to meteoric disintegration.
The result is a particularly suggestive and original rocky landscape.
