Canossa Village – 575 mslm

The village lies on a hill side, in the middle of the Enza river basin, not far from Monte Tesa, a suggestive panoramic viewpoint and an archaeological excavation site.

It is distinctive for its antique dwellings, reminding of small courts, one of them includes even a small, well preserved tower.

Tucked almost at the centre of its façade, a round stone like a “bunion”, which worked for good omen, can be seen. Plenty of these auspicious “bunions” can be found in the façades of other houses in the village, evidence of ancient beliefs. Intriguing also some portals dating back to Medieval Ages.
